How to Consign with Us

Consignment Steps

  1. To determine whether we have a market for your pieces, please email photographs to consignment@windsorcottagehome.com. We welcome items of quality that appeal to today’s buyer. Furniture styles and manufacturers that are currently popular in the marketplace and sell the most quickly and for the highest prices. 

  2. We only accept items from smoke free homes. We cannot accept furniture from homes with cats due to allergies. All upholstery should be vacuumed and in clean condition and all wood pieces should be cleaned and dusted. 

  3. We do not accept items in need of reupholstering, refinishing or repair. We do not accept upholstery that is more than 10 years old.

  4. Our pricing reflects the care and condition of the pieces brought to us. We look at the age of the piece, whether it is still available, the condition and the quality. Any provenance that can be provided is always helpful.

  5. Any items accepted for condition and brought to the shop cannot be marketed on any other venue while being consigned with us.

  6. All rugs must be cleaned before consignment.

  7. We are not responsible for moving your pieces into the shop. Should you need movers to help you, we can recommend local movers who will make it easy for you. Please remember this if you decide to move items on your own. We are not able to lift and carry heavy pieces into the shop from your vehicle or truck.

  8. Should consignment pieces arrive that are not in keeping with these guidelines, they will be refused and we will not be responsible for them.

Consignment Terms

  1. Our consignment period is for 90 days. After 60 days, the consignor has the option to retrieve the item, or extend the consignment period.

  2. Markdown Schedule: 
    - After 30 days, the item price will drop by 10% of the original price. 
    - After 60 days, the item price will drop by 20% of the original price.

  3. We work on a 50/50 commission split. Checks are issued on the first of each month for any items sold the prior month.

  4. After one year from the received date, the consignment agreement expires, and we will donate or dispose of the items if the consignor has not contacted us to retrieve them.
